Reports confirmed that, following a heated argument, Comfort locked her husband out of their bedroom. This led to a struggle between them, and she stabbed Olusegun in the back.
An informant, who begged to remain anonymous, shared: ‘I received a call around 10:03 p.m., where I was told they had a fight, and she stabbed him, though he was taken to the hospital. About 30 minutes later, I got another call informing me that my younger brother had died’.
After we reported the incident to the police, she was questioned about what had happened. She explained that her late husband had accused her of locking their bedroom door around 7 a.m. when she left the house and not returning until about 7 p.m.
She stated that the issue escalated into an argument, but the fight began when her late husband came in and slapped her while she was lying down breastfeeding their baby.
The informant reported that another relative of the husband, who lived with the couple, intervened in the fight and separated them.
The relative was reportedly staying with the couple while undergoing medical treatment.
After calming the situation, he returned to his room, telling the husband to sleep in the living room. However, it was reported that Comfort then went to confront her husband while he was lying on the couch and stabbed him in the back with a knife.
The husband reportedly screamed for help and collapsed, and he was later confirmed dead upon arrival at the hospital,” the source recounted.
The incident was first reported at the Gbagi Police Station, but the case was subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Iyaganku, Ibadan.
In due time, Mrs Comfort Tinubu, wife of the deceased, will have to face the law, and also provide proper explanations for such a gruesome act which has left their two children fatherless and also made her a widow, and hopefully justice will be served.
