Recall that Babalola had petitioned the Ekiti State Police Command, alleging defamation by Farotimi in his book, Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System. Farotimi was subsequently arrested in Lagos, transported to Ekiti State, and arraigned before two courts in Ekiti.
The activist faced trial for alleged criminal defamation at an Ekiti State Magistrate Court in Ado Ekiti and for alleged cyberbullying at the Federal High Court in Ado Ekiti.

Babalola emphasized the significant role of traditional rulers and the influence they wield in the region.
