The South African Department of Home Affairs has reportedly announced the revocation of identification documents for Chidimma Adetshina, a former Miss South Africa contestant, and her mother, following allegations of identity fraud. Deputy Minister Njabulo Nzuza confirmed that the decision was made after an investigation found that Adetshina’s mother had allegedly obtained her ID illegally.
This revelation came amid growing public pressure on social media. Nzuza explained that Adetshina was given a chance to respond to the allegations but reportedly failed to do so by the October 28 deadline, prompting the department to initiate the withdrawal of her citizenship. “If her mother’s ID was obtained illegally, then it brings her citizenship into question,” he stated during an interview with SABC News.
The investigation also revealed that Adetshina’s mother had multiple passports while traveling with her to South Africa, raising further suspicions about their immigration status. Authorities suspect that she may be a Mozambican citizen, complicating the case. The Hawks, South Africa’s Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, are currently pursuing her mother for questioning regarding the alleged fraud.
Despite the challenges surrounding her citizenship, Adetshina is reportedly set to represent Nigeria at the 73rd Miss Universe pageant in Mexico City on November 16, 2024. The situation remains a significant topic of discussion as the public awaits further developments. ..ALSO READ FULL FROM SOURCE ↔️
