Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has shed light on his bizarre goal celebration against Hoffenheim in the German Bundesliga.
The 23-year-old netted twice as the Bundesliga title holders dispatched Hoffenheim 4-1 at PreZero Arena on Saturday, September 14.
The Super Eagles striker set up Martin Terrier for Leverkusen’s opener in the 17th minute before scoring the second on the half-hour mark.
German international Mergim Berisha pulled a goal back for the home side in the 37th minute before Florian Wirtz scored from the spot to restore Leverkusen’s two-goal lead in the 72nd minute.
Boniface scored his second of the day with a quarter of an hour left to play, sealing a convincing victory for Xabi Alonso’s side.
In a surprise gesture, the former Union SG striker pulled down his pants to celebrate after scoring his first goal in the 30th minute.
Explaining the reason behind the wild celebration, Boniface stated that it was done in response to a promise he made to a Nigerian influencer.

“I didn’t want to provoke anyone,” he said. “I did it in front of our fans. It’s a TikTok trend by a big influencer in Nigeria. I promised him that I would celebrate like that; I just hadn’t scored yet.”▶For. More. READ. THE FULL. STORY.▶▶
