Court summons Dino Melaye over alleged tax evasion

According to court documents, the summons dated August 21, 2025, mandates Melaye to appear before the Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone II, Abuja, on September 5, 2025.

The Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS) also accused the former lawmaker of underpaying taxes in 2020, 2021, and 2022.

The agency revealed that Melaye paid N85,000.08 in 2019, N100,000.08 in 2020, N120,000 in 2021, and N1,000,000 in 2022, despite declaring far higher incomes.

For instance, records allegedly showed that Melaye declared an annual income of over N6.5m in 2022 but paid just N1m in tax.

The FCT-IRS stated that an administrative assessment for 2023 and 2024 was issued on May 23, 2025, but Melaye allegedly failed to respond within the 30-day window provided.
