Darwin Nunez has aimed a cheeky dig at Eduardo Camavinga following Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday. The Reds continued their 100 per cent start to the new league phase format thanks to second-half goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo.

Nunez, 25, started and played 68 minutes before he was replaced by Gakpo. The Uruguayan impressed during his time on the pitch and was unfortunate not to score in the first-half. He was played through inside the right channel but his shot was well saved by Thibaut Courtois before Raul Asencio almost put the ball through his own net.

After the game, Nunez took to Instagram to praise his Liverpool teammates and thank the supporters on another memorable night at Anfield. In a caption, Nunez said: “Big win! Proud of the effort of my teammates and grateful for the fans energy!” followed with a fist pumping emoji.”

Alongside that was four images from the game, and one of them, in particular, was brutal. The fourth and final photo uploaded by Nunez showed him appearing to shove Real’s Camavinga to the deck. It was a fine piece of strength from the former Benfica forward, who also posted a picture of him dribbling past Kylian Mbappe.

Overall, it was a fantastic night at the office for Arne Slot’s side and the Liverpool boss was delighted with his side’s performance against the 15-time Champions League winners. Speaking in his post-match press conference, Slot said: “I liked a lot what I saw. Of course not everything.

“I think we controlled the first half with creating a few chances, but I also thought we were still a bit sloppy, so we lost the ball in very easy situations or we forced it a bit too much.

“I said, ‘Try to be even more patient, let the gaps open up instead of forcing them.’ Then it helps if, the first seven minutes after half-time I think we had total dominance, they even didn’t come across the halfway line. If you score a goal like this, then we were flying, if you want to put it like this.”

Liverpool are next in action when they face Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday. A win over Pep Guardiola’s side will move the Reds 11 points clear of City in the Premier League title race.…READ THE FULL STORY FROM SOURCE : …READ THE FULL STORY FROM SOURCE
