During the protest, Adeyanju said, “There is no justification for this demolition,” as he appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene. Videos of the protesters carrying placards with inscriptions calling on President Tinubu to sack Wike were circulated.
Reacting to the protest, Wike slammed Adeyanju for his disapproval of the recent demolitions in the capital.
Speaking to the press, the Minister stated that Adeyanju’s criticisms stemmed from his personal disagreement with him after he rejected the lawyer’s plea to become the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) National Publicity Secretary.
Wike said, “I saw one young man, they call him Adeyanju. He is from Kogi State,” Wike said. “This young boy came to me that he wants to be the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, and I said no. I said he won’t be, and he was not. I have no regret about it. He has suddenly become a civil society activist.
