The tribunal, on Wednesday, April 2, upheld Okpebholo’s win in the September 2024 governorship election, dismissing the petition filed by Asue Ighodalo, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement signed by his senior special assistant on public communications and social media, Lere Olayinka, Wike described the ruling as a reaffirmation of the mandate freely given to Okpebholo by the people of Edo State.
He called on the governor to remain focused on governance and not be distracted by those who “are only interested in getting power through the back door.” Wike emphasized that the tribunal’s verdict was a victory for the people of Edo State and urged Okpebholo to stay committed to service.
