Ekong scored a goal in the match and as well in the penalty shootout. According to the story, Ekong was born in Harlem, Netherlands to a Nigerian father from Akwa Ibom and a Dutch mother. His love for football led to serious friction in his family between his parent and, despite sending him to school at a young age, Ekong focused on playing football and getting into a football academy.
Reacting to it, the Super Eagles Captain quoted the story via his Twitter (X) account and said “IF YOU CAN DREAM IT, NEVER GIVE UP”.
