It is the most urgent distress signal in aviation and it’s used to request immediate assistance and priority handling when an aircraft develops fault especially in the air
A statement by Mrs. Bimbo Oladeji, Director, Public Affairs and Family Assistance, NSIB, said that the aircraft with four souls onboard, including three crewmembers and one passenger, had departed Abuja airport for Kotoka International Airport, Accra, but experienced technical difficulties during the flight to Ghana.
According to Oladeji, the aircraft was climbing through flight level 240 en route to flight level 280 when the crew reported an engine number two indication issue.
The statement hinted that the aircraft was at a position approximately 25 nautical miles southwest of VOR station VONUK at 17:54 UTC when the crew requested a diversion back to Abuja due to the engine indication.18+ Trending Video| Watch Now: Husband Beat Wife To Death Because She Refused To Give Him H0t $ex.

“On approaching Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, at approximately 5,000ft, the crew declared Mayday, stating they had lost engine number one.
“The crew managed to safely land the aircraft at Abuja Airport at 18:16 UTC. There were no injuries reported, and all individuals on board are safe.”

She explained that its investigators were gathering evidence, conducting interviews and reviewing the aircraft’s flight data and maintenance records to uncover underlying causes.
