Diri emphasized that under Fubara’s leadership, long-standing issues between the two states, particularly the contentious Soku Oil well dispute, have been resolved.

Diri made the remarks during a Yuletide visit to Fubara in Port Harcourt on Saturday, where he commended the progress made in fostering harmony between the two states. He noted that the resolution of the oil well issue marked a significant milestone in their relationship.

Resolution of the Soku Oil Well Dispute

One of the most prominent disputes between Rivers and Bayelsa has been the ownership of the Soku Oil well, a highly valuable asset estimated to be worth ₦25 billion. The dispute over the oil well, which has been a point of contention since 1996, was resolved when both states agreed to return to the status quo that existed prior to the crisis.

Governor Diri expressed satisfaction with the outcome, stating, “Rivers and Bayelsa are one. Since you came on board, both states have been peaceful. Now we have understanding even in areas where we had issues.” He further added, “For instance, the Soku oil well. We have agreed to go back to the status quo before the crisis, and there is peace now. That matter is out of court.”

Significance of the Agreement

The resolution of the Soku Oil well dispute is seen as a major breakthrough in relations between the two states, which share both geographical proximity and a history of tension over resource control. The agreement to return to the status quo and the removal of the matter from the courts is expected to bring long-term stability to the region.ENDTIME INDEED| POPULAR NIGERIA PASTOR P0RN V!DEO L3AKED, V!DEO GOES V!RAL ON T!KT0K | DOWNLOAD OR WATCH IT HERE.
