The announcement, made on Tuesday, came via a statement issued by Dr. George Nwaeke, the state’s Head of Service.
The bonus, which was approved on Monday, aims to help workers and senior citizens celebrate Christmas with joy and financial ease. This marks the second consecutive year that civil servants in Rivers State will receive such a bonus under Governor Fubara’s administration. Notably, this year also includes pensioners, making it a significant expansion of the initiative.
Governor Fubara’s commitment to improving the welfare of the state’s workers is underscored by this bonus, which exceeds the national minimum wage of ₦30,000. This move is expected to ease financial burdens, especially during the holiday season when many are facing the pressures of increased spending.
In his Christmas message, Governor Fubara called on the people of Rivers State to embrace peace, love, and unity. He stressed the importance of peaceful coexistence in overcoming Nigeria’s economic and security challenges. “Let us use this season to foster unity and love among ourselves. The challenges we face as a nation can only be addressed when we live in peace and harmony,” he said.
