The group said defaulting to pay for services rendered, does not only stagnate the purchasing power of citizens, but in a chain reaction affects the commercial growth of the business environment in Nigeria, a task the President is walking so hard to stabilize.
Speaking to newsmen in Abuja recently, leader of the group, Abolarin Babatunde Isaac said the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), should also check the activities of oil and energy companies as they are involved in shady deals.
Isaac explained that H-PTP signed an agreement with Acme Energy Company to facilitate drilling contracts for an oil field in the Niger Delta ,Imo State at Ibigwe field OML 16 Area.
He elucidates further that one Mr Akinola Ogundara, the CEO of HPTP and Mr Norbert Oleah representing Technova International Limited are involved in the contract signing and have refused to settle Acme Energy which is their contractor and others involved in the project.
Isaac said the contract was completed in 2021.
According to him: “Several letters have been written and different high profile personalities have intervened but H-PTP managers claimed that an oil company called Walter Smith Petroman gave them the contract, which they in turn sublet to Acme Energy.
“Haven agreed to have sublet to Acme Energy, H-PTP has still refused to pay. This is what most companies in Nigeria are facing, which President Tinubu will quickly look into, as he is carrying out reforms to balance the country’s economy.
“A lot of companies in Nigeria have refused to pay their staff because most oil companies have defaulted in payment to their contractors.
“Higher percentage of Nigerians are going through painful experiences. The president must with all urgency focus on the companies doing business in the oil and gas to check their practices.
“This matter has been reported to the Minister of Petroleum for State, Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri and lawyers have written severally to H-PTP ENERGY SERVICE LIMITED but they have refused to reply to any of the letters”, Isaac said.
The group resolved that they will take further steps by staging a protest as a means to sustain the pressure for the demand of their payment.
“We are also demanding that the federal government withdraw the license of Walter Smith Petroman oil Ltd and also stop the refinery from operating”.
When contacted, Mr. Ogundare of H-PTP said he does not want to comment on the issues.
Also, when our correspondent reached out to Mr Oleah of Technova, he said: “You can go ahead and publish whatever you want. Don’t bother to call me please, just go ahead and do as you please”.
It is important to note that both H-PTP ENERGY SERVICE LIMITED and Technova International Limited have no equipment nor any ideas for the project.
However, the group said it shall continue to work in collaboration with the Federal and State government in helping companies and organizing doing business in Nigeria to rise above impunity of shrewd businessmen and will continue to mobilize support for President Tinubu in building a strong economy and rebranding business activities in Nigeria.
The organization is also reaching out to security agencies to caution and investigate some of the companies doing business in the oil and gas sector as their practices are having negative impacts on the Nigeria economy.
