The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) continues to receive criticism about its methods on the arrest of former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello. On Wednesday, Bello was arraigned before the High Court in Abuja and pleaded not guilty to the 16-count charges.

A social media user identified as HiikyaaTor went on a rant following the EFCC’s failure to treat Bello like a criminal based on their allegations.

He claimed the EFCC is biased and Nigerians are not confident in their ability to prosecute Yahaya Bello.

In a video shared on social media, HiikyaaTor said, “Please put him in a handcuff, let him carry the placard and write under Yahaya Bello, alleged fraud. Let us have it, or else you’re just joking. You do it to Yahoo boys, you do it to thieves; also do it to Yahaya Bello. Let him hold that placard. Let us know that you are working, or else you’re just playing. We will not take you people seriously. Everybody must face the same wrath of the law. Let him hold the placard. Let us see, then we can take you seriously.”

Bello has been accused of conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, and possession of unlawfully obtained property.

The EFCC alleged that the former governor misused state funds to acquire properties, including No. 35 Danube Street, Maitama District, Abuja (N950 million), No. 1160 Cadastral Zone C03, Gwarimpa II District, Abuja (N100 million), and No. 2 Justice Chukwudifu Oputa Street, Asokoro, Abuja (N920 million).

Other properties the defendants allegedly acquired with funds stolen from the Kogi state treasury included Block D Manzini Street, Wuse Zone 4, Abuja (N170 million), Hotel Apartment Community: Burj Khalifa, Dubai (Five Million, Six Hundred and Ninety-Eight Thousand, Eight Hundred and Eighty-Eight Dirhams), Block 18, Gwelo Street, Wuse Zone 4, Abuja (N60 million), and No. 9 Benghazi Street, Wuse Zone 4, Abuja (N310.4 million).…READ THE FULL STORY FROM SOURCE : …READ THE FULL STORY FROM SOURCE
