Hardship: NYSC urges corps members to embrace entrepreneurship

Amid ongoing economic challenges, the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has urged graduating Corps members to embrace entrepreneurship, reiterating the need to leverage skills acquired through its Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program to navigate financial hardships. ...READ THE FULL STORY FROM SOURCE ↔️

The Bauchi NYSC Coordinator, Rifkatu Yakubu, gave the advise at the presentation of certificates to a total of 1,393 Corps members from the 2023 Batch ‘C’ Stream I, who were awarded Certificates of National Service upon the successful completion of their mandatory one-year service to the nation.

The coordinator, while reiterating the importance of entrepreneurship for the departing Corps members, said, “This will not only help you navigate the economic hardship but also enable you to become employers and contributors to the national economy.”

She advised them to put into practice what they learned during the SAED program, as the availability of traditional white-collar jobs continues to decline.

For those who didn’t participate in SAED, she encouraged them to consider entrepreneurship, noting that “it is never too late to start”.

Yakubu also congratulated the Corps members on their successful service year, reminding them to avoid night travel as they return to their various destinations.

She also urged them to steer clear of social vices, as it could negatively impact not only their lives but also their families, alma maters, and the NYSC itself.

“Be a good ambassador of NYSC, your school, your family, and the country at large,” she advised.

At the event, Kaan Martina Seerdoon, with batch number BA/23C/0527, received the Chairman’s Honours Award of Merit. In separate interviews with journalists, many Corps members expressed joy and gratitude for completing their service in Bauchi State.
