The journalist arrived at the facility around 9:00am and was accompanied by the media organisation’s lawyer, Barr. Abimbola Ojenike.
Soyombo, who took to his social media handles to announce the development, said that should nobody hear from him, it means that he has been detained by the Nigerian Police.
He had been previously declared wanted by the Nigerian Police over some of his exclusive and undercover reports which many top government officials considered offensive.
Soyombo wrote, “I have just voluntarily arrived at the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCC) in Abuja based on publicly available information that I am wanted. I’m here with @fijnigeria lawyer @abimbolaojenike.
“If you haven’t heard from me by dawn, it means I have been detained, in which case, further updates will be provided by @fijnigeria.
“See you ‘soon’, whenever that is — today, tomorrow, next week, next month. Whenever.”
