I am not as short as you think – Obasanjo to Kenyan official on speaking platform incident

A hilarious video of President Olusegun Obasanjo pushing away a riser that was placed to help him reach the microphone at a recent event has surfaced on social media. Upon reaching the podium, a government official placed the riser, but the former president dragged it out of sight, jokingly saying, “I am not as short as you think I am.” His reaction elicited laughter from the audience.

Continuing to speak at the event, President Olusegun Obasanjo expressed confidence that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga will bring about positive change in Africa if he wins the African Union Commission chairperson seat.

“He will make Africa proud, powerful, peaceful, and prosperous. We need all of that, and you can count on our support, as you have seen,” he said.

Obasanjo emphasized that with the support given, there is a shared responsibility to ensure Raila’s success if he secures the position.

“If we support you and you succeed, we must ensure that you achieve your goals. We will do our part, and we pray to God that you do yours,” he added.

“A war is happening in Europe while we are facing hunger in Africa. We are struggling with poverty and cannot overcome it unless we unite as African countries and as a continent,” he explained.
