During a media chat on Monday, Tinubu responded directly to these criticisms, stating, “I am not ready to shrink the size of my cabinet. I am not prepared to bring down the size of my cabinet.” The president defended his decision, asserting that the cabinet was structured to address the complex challenges facing the country, with each member tasked with a clear and necessary function.
When pressed on the matter, President Tinubu challenged his interviewers to identify any ministers who were not performing up to expectations. “If there is any minister not performing, let me know,” he said. “But I can assure you, every member of my cabinet is contributing to the work of government and helping drive our reforms forward.” Tinubu’s comments highlighted his belief in the value and purpose of the appointments, despite the growing controversy surrounding the cabinet’s size.
In a related development, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, the lawmaker representing Abia North in the Senate, praised President Tinubu for his openness and receptiveness as a leader. Kalu, who recently visited the president at his residence in Lagos State, described Tinubu as a leader willing to engage with stakeholders and address concerns.
