Iceland closures continue with two more stores at risk – full list of locations affected

The budget frozen food retailer confirmed another store closure after already shuttering more than a dozen shops in 2023.....PROCEED.FULL.READING>>>
Shoppers in Huddersfield will bid farewell to an Iceland site next month leaving just one remaining in the English town.
While it may come as no surprise to Britons, who have witnessed a number of high-street brands do the same this year, some may not have expected the closures to continue for so long.
However, according to Iceland bosses, it is part of plans to adapt to “local shopping patterns”.
Managing Director of Iceland Foods, Richard Walker previously said: “We typically open more than 20 new stores each year, creating many new jobs and contributing to the growth of local economies.”
He continued: “At the same time, we continually review the retail experience offered to our customers and have always made a small number of store closures every year, as local shopping patterns change and shop leases expire.”
Currently, one more store is expected to close this month, followed by the Trinity Street site in Huddersfield on Saturday, October 28.
Shoppers in Birkenhead, Merseyside will lose their local frozen retailer on Tuesday, September 26.
Two Iceland branches closed earlier in September 2023, including one in Llanelli, South Wales on September 2 and another in Crewe, Cheshire just a few days ago on September 16.
It’s not all bad news though as shoppers are likely to find a Food Warehouse nearby if they are losing their local Iceland store.
Customers in Huddersfield will find their nearest branch at Great Northern Retail Park, while others will be sure to find one of its 150 sites nearby using Iceland’s store locator tool.
The Food Warehouse is one of the fastest-growing British Supermarkets and is part of the Iceland Foods Group. Despite its growth amid the closures of the brand’s flagship stores, the Food Warehouse will complement the retailer’s old format rather than replace it.
Confirmation of the loss of yet another Iceland store comes after its fellow budget brand Wilko announced that 111 more sites would close within a matter of weeks as part of its insolvency.
Boots is also expected to lose a significant number of sites in the coming months after it was confirmed that 300 branches would be closed over a 12-month period.
