Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu emphasized in a video released by Sahara TV that Igbos as a people have made the decision to reinvest their earnings in the places where they are earned.

He felt that the economic situation in Igboland might have been different if the Igbos had taken a different tack, instead of just amassing wealth and disappearing. Iwuanyanwu emphasized the Igbo people’s resolve to spend heavily throughout Nigeria and support local development outside of their own territory.

Chief Iwuanyanwu stated that the actions of the Igbos developed Lagos into what it is today, pointing out that anyone who saw Lagos in the 1960s will know what he’s talking about. He stated that Igbos have only invested in Lagos and have not in any way dominated the place.

He suggested that those who invest in an area and run away with the income generated are the people who are trying to claim the area.

According to him, “When we come to a place and make money in the place, we invest the money there. And when we do it, they say we’re dominating. When we make money, we invest it there; we have a choice.

If Igbos have been the group that get money and run away with it, of course, Igboland could have been a different place, but we felt that, you see, we are one Nigeria.

Why, if it’s one Nigeria, shouldn’t I develop Lagos? Why shouldn’t I develop any other place? So Igbos have, I’m saying it, been one of the biggest investors in Nigeria in local investment. Everywhere you go, you have them.”..PROCEED.FULL.READING>>>
