Human rights activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, has urged parents with daughters in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, to ensure they always talk to them about prioritizing their security. He shared the story of how a 17 year old girl identified as Joy Eze, left her room for lectures and never returned alive.
Her corpse was later recovered with tell-tale signs of violence. Harrison said her body was discovered the next day with her face severely battered and swollen.
“Stay safe, stay informed! If you have loved ones studying at UNN, encourage them to prioritize their security. Joy Eze’s tragic loss at 17 reminds us to remain cautious. Her k!inlets are yet to be brought to justice,”
he wrote at the time.
Harrison further said this is not the first case that has been received from the institution. He recalled how a girl was called from the school to pick up an item for dispatch but was later kidnapped and how a young man was also kidnapped from the school.
Harrison criticised the institution’s management for trying to cover up the incidents instead of doing something to tackle the situation.
He urged parents with daughters in UNN to call and warn them about how they conduct themselves on campus.
The activist wrote alongside a video shared on his social media pages:
“If you have a daughter in UNN, call her and hold her ears. A lot of things are happening in that school and the school authority are not doing enough to see how they can manage it and the ones happening, they cover it up.
