Governor Seyi Makinde has announced the purchase of two surveillance aircraft and drones amid rising insecurity in the country.

Makinde revealed this shortly after a security meeting with fellow Southwest governors in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Monday.
He shared on X, “Today we hosted my brother governors of the South West Governor’s Forum in Ibadan. Our deliberations centred on economic and regional development and security challenges in the South West region. We jointly resolved, among other things, to continue our call for State Policing as we believe that this will go a long way in addressing security challenges in the South West region.
“We also commended the efforts of the security agencies, including Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Hunters, Amotekun Corps Members who are working hard to secure our forests.
“As I said during my 2026 Budget presentation earlier today, as part of our efforts to secure our dear State, our administration is awaiting the delivery of two surveillance aircrafts already purchased, which will be deployed with drones in Oyo State.”.Also Read Original
