Moghalu, a former founding member of the APC and one-time beneficiary of its government, stunned many when he left the ruling party in October to join the Labour Party. His reason? After consultations, he claimed the Labour Party presented the most viable platform for his governorship bid.
When asked if his candidacy was a serious bid or a strategic move to secure a senatorial ticket for the recently vacated Anambra South seat, Moghalu categorically denied any interest in the Senate. He maintained his focus on contesting for the governorship.
Yet, doubts linger. Critics question why Moghalu abandoned the APC, especially since his son reportedly holds an advisory role in the current administration. Why not contest under the party he helped to form and worked for in 2023 ? These questions have fueled speculation that his switch might be part of a larger strategy to undermine the Labour Party from within.
Adding to the intrigue, recent media reports quoted Moghalu expressing eagerness to negotiate a “pre-primaries political arrangement” with Mr. John Nwosu, the leading Gubernatorial aspirant from Nnewi .
