Among those detained was the hospital’s director, Hussam Abu Safiya, who the Ministry said was beaten by soldiers. The Israeli military, however, claimed that the hospital was being used as a Hamas military command center, and the detainees were suspected militants.
Hamas rejected these allegations, stating that no fighters had been at the hospital and called for international intervention to protect medical facilities in Gaza.
