Governor Lawal gave this assurance in an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, September 17.
This follows the military’s significant progress against bandits, including the killing of the wanted bandit leader Halilu Sububu, who had been terrorizing citizens in Zamfara, Sokoto, and other parts of the North-West.
The Governor believes that Turji, the bandit leader, will soon be apprehended or eliminated.
“It’s only a matter of time,” the governor said during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today when asked about the likelihood of stopping the notorious bandit.
“W
ith the collaboration between us (the state government) and the Federal Government, security agencies, believe me, it is only a matter of time; Turji will be killed very soon.”
Sububu and more than 30 other bandits were killed last week.
The governor does not expect Turji’s elimination to end banditry in the state but is confident that “it will significantly reduce it.”
Governor Lawal believes the military is on the right path and must not let up.
According to him, this is crucial for completely ending banditry.
“What we need to do is sustain this military pressure,” he said.
