While giving more details about the incident that led to reports about his health condition after the Colloquium, Akpabio revealed he had malaria mingled with stress

The Senate leader said he called his doctor immediately after the event because he was exhausted when he got home.

“What eventually happened after the event was a show of humanity. I went home and I called my doctors and I was assured that I had malaria, mingled with stress, which could also be described in another way as exhaustion,” he said.

He acknowledged that what transpired after the event was a show of humanity.

“This is to say that the work goes on. I want to assure Nigerians that the National Assembly is intact and we are still going on with our duty, our appropriation.”

The former Akwa Ibom governor held the event in Abuja with several reports saying he slumped on the occasion.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson of the Senate, Yemi Adaramodu, on Thursday evening, quelled the tension arising from the incident.

Frantic reports had said Akpabio collapsed after seeing off President Bola Tinubu who graced the colloquium organised as part of activities marking the Senate President’ s birthday.

However, according to Adaramodu, the reports are not real facts.
