The accusation was made by the party’s executives at Umukegwu/Umuopia Ward and Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State, who issued a statement on Monday. The statement came after reports surfaced claiming that Ugochinyere, a member of the House of Representatives representing the Ideato North/Ideato South federal constituency and the spokesperson for the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), had been expelled from the PDP.
However, the ward and local government party leaders dismissed the reports as “fake news,” reaffirming Ugochinyere’s continued membership and leadership within the party. In the statement, signed by Chief Mathias Onuebunwa, the chairman of Umukegwu/Umuopia Ward, and Chief Emeka Eze, the chairman of Ideato North LGA PDP, the executives expressed their unwavering support for Ugochinyere, describing him as a respected and influential figure in the party.
The statement reads: “Ikenga is a strong member of the PDP, and at the ward and local government levels, we have no reason to suspend or expel him. Instead, we owe him a debt of gratitude and confidence for his courageous efforts to protect the PDP from political traitors who are colluding to sell the party to the All Progressives Congress (APC), under the leadership of Anyanwu and Damagum, who are allegedly working in the interests of their APC ‘paymasters.’”VERY SHAMEFUL| V!DEO TRENDS! The executives also emphasized that Ugochinyere, as the highest-ranking elected official in Imo State under the PDP, is beyond the reach of such baseless political maneuvers. They reaffirmed their trust in his leadership, noting that the state party is solidly behind him.
In a related development, the 27 PDP local government chairmen in Imo State also held an emergency meeting, during which they passed a resolution declaring Ugochinyere as the state leader of the party. The chairmen further expressed their confidence in Ugochinyere’s leadership and tasked him with spearheading efforts to restructure and reconcile the party at the state level.
