Land-Grabbing Protest: Why Ayodele Sonubi not fit to continue as Oyo Police Commissioner- Activist Sulaiman

Human rights activist and Executive Chairman,Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice(CHRSJ),Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman, has reiterated the reasons why the current Oyo State Commissioner of Police,Mr. Ayodele Sonubi did not deserve to be a Commissioner of Police for any State in the Nigeria Police Force(NPF) and not to talk of being a Commissioner of Police in a  State like Oyo State by being the protector of the land-grabbers in the State.

Comrade Sulaiman who applauded the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,the Ministers of Works,Interior and Power,the Inspector General of Police(IGP), Force Public Relations Officer(FPRO),ACP Muyiwa Odejobi,Comrade Amitolu Shittu,Barrister Lekan Alabi,

Comrade Wole Oladapo(Aluta),Alhaja Shakirat Ismail,Dr. Niyi Oginni and host of other people too numerous to mention for standing on the side of truth and justice on the subject matter.

Sulaiman who was specially lauded the judicial arm of Oyo State led by the State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Iyabo Yerima,describing them as a finest judicial officers and hope of common masses,saying that they have contributed in no small measure to ensure that the correctional centres were decongested in the State.

The rights activist urged the Chairman, Police Service Commission(PSC),retired DIG Hasshim Argungu and Inspector General of Police(IGP), Dr. Kayode Egbetokun to remove Sonubi as Oyo Police boss without further delaying,saying that he knows the predicament of the IGP Egbetokun in removing Sonubi because the duo hail from Ogun State.

He added that there were many beautiful officers from Ogun State that could replace Sonubi who has been given bad names to the Nigeria Police Force(NPF) since he became the Deputy Commissioner of Police(DCP) in charge of State Criminal Investigation Department(SCID),Iyaganku,Ibadan.

While speaking on Thursday after he was released from Agogi Correctional Centre,Ibadan over an allegation of trump-up charge of treason felony and planing to overthrow the government of Seyi Makinde leveled against him(Sulaiman) and eleven(11) other Ibadan Artisans(Mechanics) on 12th of December,2024 for protesting against the grabbing of Federal Government Road Setback

land at Oppossite Gbagi International Market Ibadan by one Seye Famojuro, a PDP Chieftain in Oyo State and associate of Mr. Seyi Makinde.

The CHRSJ boss maintained that he was suprised that when the Federal Government of Nigeria took over the road setback which has been sold to the political cronnies by an aide of Governor Seyi Makinde,one Seye Famojuro from Ijesa axis of Osun State,suprisingly,CP Ayodele Sonubi could not direct his men,including Shola Aremu,OC Monitoring Unit,Inspector Folorunso,Kefas Usman and others to go and arrest President Bola Tinubu led Federal Government and the officials of the Federal Ministry of Works.

He added that Seye Famojuro was the Police Complainant on the subject matter before the Police,adding that CP Sonubi and his aforementioned Policemen were employed by Seye Famojuro and cohorts to arrest any citizen who resisted their illegal land grabbing across Oyo State.

According to Sulaiman: ” Nobody can say whether CP Ayodele Sonubi and his men are working for Seye Famojuro,Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) and land-grabbers or Nigeria people.The CP Ayodele Sonubi through illegal arrest and unlawful detention by his men had made Correctional Centres in Oyo State to be congested unjustly. It is high time Mr. Ayodele Sonubi is removed as Oyo State Commissioner of Police  with immediate alarcrity.”

While welcoming the CHRSJ boss from illegal and unlawful dungeon on behalf of the members of the Centre, the Assistant General Secretary(AGS) of the Centre for Human Rights and Social Justice(CHRSJ),Pastor Micheal Agaasi thanked those who stood behind the human rights organization during the over two months when their leader was not around.

 made available to newsmen on Friday,emphasized that it has been very unfortunate that the State Police Command under the watch Mr. Ayodele Sonubi could become instrument used by Seye Famojuro of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in grabbing the setback land of the Federal Government road,maintaining that the Police led by Mr. Sonubi should be the one to protect the said Federal road setback from land grabbers.
