A 60-year old landlord, Nwajei Osadebe and his accomplice, Francis Nnamdi, 30 have been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly throwing out the properties of a female tenant, Princess Maryjane Osakwe, after beating her to coma and stealing her properties worth N15m in the process. ..ALSO READ FULL FROM SOURCE ↔️
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Philip Taiwo Street, Coker Estate, Shasha, Lagos.
Apart from breaking into her apartment and throwing out her properties, the suspects were alleged to have beaten her to coma and she was rushed to an undisclosed hospital, where she was revived.
The matter was reported to the Police at Area M Command, Idimu and the suspects were arrested and detained at the Command for interrogation over their alleged conduct against the victim.
After interrogation, the Police found them culpable and charged them before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.
The charges read:
OUNT 1: That you, Francis Nnamdi “M”, Nwajei Osadebe ‘M’ and others at large at No. 31 Philip Taiwo Street, Coker Estate, Shasha, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire together to commit felony by unlawfully interfering with the properties of one Princess Maryjane Osakwe and thereby committed an offence under Section 411 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”
COUNT II: That you, Francis Nnamdi ‘M’, Nwajei Osadebe ‘M’ and others at large on the same date, time and place in the same aforesaid magisterial district, did unlawfully interfere with the properties of one Princess Maryjane Osakwe by breaking into her apartment and throwing away her belongings and thereby committed an offence and punishable under Section 340 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”
COUNT III: That you Francis Nnamdi ‘M’, Nwajei Osadebe ‘M’ and others at large on the same date, time and place in the same aforementioned magisterial district, did unlawfully steal the properties and cash of N15,000,000.00 (Fifteen Million Naira] from the apartment of one Princess Mary Jane Osakwe and thereby committed an offence contrary to the law and punishable under Section 287 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.”
COUNT IV: That you, Francis Nnamdi ‘M’, Nwajei Osadebe ‘M’ and others at large on the same date, time and place in the same aforesaid magisterial district, did unlawfully assault one Princess Maryjane Osakwe, by beating her to the stage of unconsciousness and thereby committed an offence contrary to the law and punishable under Section, 172 of the criminal law of Lages State 2015.”
However, they pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Supol Benedict Aigbokhan, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since they pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that they actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. K.A. Ariyo, granted them bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court. The matter was adjourned till 8th November, 2024, for mention while the defendants were remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when they will perfect their bail conditions.. ..ALSO READ FULL FROM SOURCE ↔️
