Kalashkinov was a military architect, innovator, and lieutenant general in the Russian army, among other titles. The AK-47 assault rifle, along with its various upgraded versions, as well as the PK automatic weapon, the AKM, and the AK-74, were all creations that brought Kalashkinov widespread acclaim.

During World War 2, Mikhail Avtomat Kalashkinov served in the military as a veteran of the Battle. In the course of one of the many battles that he was involved in, he discovered that the firearms used by his adversaries were considerably more responsive to adjustments in shooting speed than his own.
After figuring out how to get away alive, Kalashkinov became resolute in his pursuit to create his own weapon, one that was unquestionably faster. He came up with the idea for the pistol in 1945, but it didn’t receive preliminary approval from the government until 1946, and it wasn’t until 1947 that it was officially approved for usage by the Russian government.
