Gists9ja reports that this assertion comes amid the recent developments at the PDP National Secretariat, where Sunday Ude-Okoye resumed on Monday, claiming the role of National Secretary based on a Court of Appeal ruling.
Ude-Okoye, a former PDP National Youth Leader, arrived at Wadata Plaza in Abuja, asserting his authority following a December 20 judgment by the Court of Appeal in Enugu. The court upheld an earlier decision by an Enugu High Court that affirmed Ude-Okoye as the replacement for Anyanwu, citing his nomination by the PDP South East chapter in 2023.
The PDP South East chapter had nominated Ude-Okoye to fill the position after Anyanwu emerged as the party’s governorship candidate for Imo State in the 2023 election. Leaders in the zone argued that Anyanwu automatically relinquished his role as National Secretary upon becoming the party’s standard bearer.
Despite the court’s ruling, Anyanwu maintains that he remains the party’s National Secretary. In a phone interview with Daily Sun, he confirmed that he has filed an appeal against the judgment and a stay of execution.
“I have filed a stay. All those things are just social media propaganda. Besides, I have a judgment that nobody in PDP can send anything to INEC except me,” Anyanwu said.
