Mikel Obi later joined the Blues in 2006 in a controversial transfer involving Chelsea and Manchester United.
Following his move to Stamford Bridge, Mikel Obi was converted into a defensive midfielder under Jose Mourinho due to the pool of midfield talent at the West London club at the time.
The decision changed the Nigerian international into a totally different player for the remainder of his career, a move which has left many Nigerians displeased to this day.
