‘Must Peter Obi burn Nigeria down because he lost an election?’ – Reno Omokri quizzes

Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri has tackled Peter Obi, Labour Party presidential candidate, over his call for the judiciary to be circumspect in their delivery of the 2023 presidential election petition at the Supreme Court.……CONTINUE READING>>>

Recall that Peter Obi lost the Presidential Election Petition at the Appeal Court in Abuja as the court affirmed Tinubu winner of the presidential election held in February. He however, petitioned the Supreme Court in an attempt to nullify Tinubu’s win.

Obi in a post on Tuesday, October 24, called on the Nigerian judiciary to uphold democracy and the rule of law in the country.

He said on X, “Still on the identity crisis and controversies that have continued to haunt the Nigerian citadel of power since the February 25, 2023 presidential elections.

“There is this saying: ‘It is not titles that honour men, but men that honour titles.

“The lofty titles that decorate people in power have little meaning if there is a hollowness and falsehood underneath them.

“Such titles which adorn those in public office mean nothing if they are not original and are fake if those who bear them have no honour to support the weight of the titles they carry.

“In situations where there is public doubt as to the veracity and authenticity of these titles and the claims behind them, it is the judiciary’s role, when called upon, to uphold the honour of the titles through transparent rulings.

“Only through such judicial interventions can the public be protected from the tyranny of dubious and duplicitous characters and identity fraudsters.

“The expectation by the high and low alike that their rights will be protected and respected by fair judges in transparent courts is what keeps citizens’ loyalty and belief in democracy.

“People, irrespective of their station in life, approach the courts whenever they feel their rights are assailed in the expectation that fair courts will render justice to them according to law.

“However, when the fairness of the judiciary is not assured and the transparency of judiciary operatives is uncertain, the rule of law will come under severe threat.”

According to Omokri, Obi is attacking the integrity of the judiciary because he is aware that he lost the election and his appeal will be dismissed.

Taking to his X page, Omokri said; “The reason Peter Obi attacked the integrity of our judiciary earlier today is because he has seen the handwriting on the wall. The comments by Justice Okoro and his colleagues have shown that they have not been intimidated by the cyberbullies Mr Obi has rallied to himself.

“#AllEyesOnTheJudiciary failed to bully their lordships, and Mr Obi has resorted to these feeble attempts to muddy the waters.

“Peter Obi will lose, and his appeal will be dismissed. Coup baiting by warning that Nigerian democracy will be under threat if “the transparency of judiciary operatives is uncertain” is such a selfish thing to do.

“Must Peter Obi burn the country down because he lost an election that even his home state Governor publicly told him he had no chance of winning despite jumping from church to church asking Christians to “take back your country” as if Nigeria belongs only to adherents of one religion,

“Peter Obi’s attempt at Yes Daddily instigating “religious war” in Nigeria failed, and his attempt to subtly provoke a military takeover will also end in frustration. Democracy is not threatened, and there will not be a coup in Nigeria over Peter Obi’s appeal at the Supreme Court, should it be dismissed.

“If Peter Obi has evidence that our judiciary is corrupt, let him boldly publish it, or forever remain silent and stop trying to set Nigerians against the bench.”
