Following the tragic death of fast-rising Nigerian singer Ifunanya Nwangene, popularly known as Nanyah, a Nigerian man, Uche Nworah, Ph.D., has shared a personal experience noting how snakes can gain access to residential apartments, particularly in urban areas.

In a detailed account shared online, Nworah reflected on Nanyah’s reported death from snake bites, describing it as a painful reminder of the dangers reptiles can pose to humans.

Late Nanyah.

He noted that from viral videos circulating online, the late singer appeared to have lived on a ground-floor apartment, which, according to him, may have increased the risk of snake intrusion.

Drawing from his own experience in 2024, Nworah recounted how a snake was discovered in the guest room of his apartment by a friend, prompting immediate concern. While security personnel killed the snake, the incident led him to invite professionals to fumigate the residence.

During the fumigation exercise, he said an even larger snake, a cobra, emerged from one of the toilets, shocking everyone present.

According to him, further investigation revealed that the apartment was connected to Abuja’s central sewage system, which provided a pathway for reptiles to enter through drainage pipes.

To prevent a recurrence, Nworah explained that he engaged a plumber to install non-return valve devices on all toilets.

These devices, he said, allow waste to flow out while automatically preventing anything from coming back into the apartment through the pipes.

He described the incident as a strong warning to residents, especially those living on ground floors in cities like Abuja, where central sewage systems are common.
