In a statement issued by NPAN Chairman, Malam Kabir Yusuf, the association highlighted that Iwuanyanwu’s death leaves a significant void in the nation’s socio-development landscape.
The statement reads: “An engineer by training, Chief Iwuanyanwu made a lasting impact in various sectors including aviation, insurance, road construction, sports, and newspaper publishing.
“His entry into the newspaper industry with the launch of Champion Newspapers on October 1, 1988, revolutionized the field. The paper was a pioneer in color printing among Nigerian newspapers and was one of the first to implement simultaneous printing, with presses in both Lagos and Owerri, allowing readers in the east to receive news concurrently with their counterparts in Lagos and the west. Chief Iwuanyanwu was also a passionate sports enthusiast; his football club, Iwuanyanwu Nationale, was a dominant force in local competitions and contended for trophies on the continent.”
The NPAN finds solace in the impressive legacies Iwuanyanwu left as a respected politician, leading businessman, and devoted patriot.
