Petrol stations in Lagos and across the country continue to sell fuel at unchanged prices. A survey by Vanguard revealed that stations operated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) have maintained their minimum pump price of ₦1,025 per litre, while several major marketers are selling at ₦1,070 per litre.

Independent marketers have further escalated prices, with some locations charging as much as ₦1,100 per litre.

This price disparity persists despite Dangote Refinery’s statement, which noted that the reduction in the ex-depot price from ₦970 per litre to ₦899.50 per litre was intended to provide relief to Nigerians, especially ahead of the holiday season. However, many consumers are yet to feel any significant impact at the pumps.

Maxi Colman Obasi, the National President of the Oil and Gas Services Providers Association of Nigeria (OGSPAN), remarked on the situation, stating, “Dangote Petroleum Refinery has made a commendable move by lowering the ex-depot price of petrol. It is now up to the marketers to ensure that consumers benefit from this price adjustment.”DO YOU LACK A HEALTHY $3X LIFE IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP AND MARRIAGE? Another industry expert, speaking to Vanguard on condition of anonymity, added, “The market has been deregulated. The price of crude oil has decreased from over $73 per barrel to around $72 per barrel, which means refiners are now paying less for crude. This reduction, alongside other factors, should lead to lower petrol prices.”

In a recent statement, Dangote Refinery explained that the price reduction was aimed at alleviating transportation costs during the holiday period. “Starting today, our petrol will be available at ₦899.50 per litre at our truck loading gantry or Single Point Mooring (SPM). Additionally, for every litre purchased on a cash basis, consumers will have the option to buy another litre on credit, supported by a bank guarantee from Access Bank, First Bank, or Zenith Bank.”

The refinery also expressed its gratitude to Nigerians for their continued support and emphasized its commitment to ensuring access to high-quality petroleum products that are competitively priced, environmentally friendly, and engine-safe.

Anthony Chiejina, the Chief Branding and Communications Officer of Dangote Group, further stated that the refinery’s operations are a significant milestone in ending Nigeria’s reliance on substandard imported petroleum products, which have posed health, environmental, and machinery risks.DO YOU LACK A HEALTHY $3X LIFE IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP AND MARRIAGE?
