Police Service Commission Announces Redeployment Of Rivers CP Alongside Three Others

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the redeployment of four Commissioners of Police to various state commands. The affected officers are Abaniwonda Olufemi, Peter Okpara, Gyogon Grimah, and Mustapha Bala. Peter Okpara has experienced a notable number of transfers, having been moved between commands during three of these redeployments. On September 14, he was assigned to the Federal Capital Territory Command but was later directed by Force Headquarters on September 19 to report to Delta State Command instead. His position at the FCT Command was taken over by Tunji Disu, who has yet to assume the role.

When contacted for comment regarding Disu’s delayed start, the FCT command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, declined to provide any information. Subsequently, Okpara was once again reassigned, this time to Cross Rivers State.

According to a statement from PSC spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani, Abaniwonda Olufemi has returned to head the Delta State Command after a brief assignment in Rivers State.

Ani further stated, “The Police Service Commission has approved the postings of four Commissioners of Police to lead state commands across the country. CP Abaniwonda Olufemi has been reassigned to Delta State Command after his recent tenure in Rivers State. CP Peter Ukachi Opara is now heading the Cross Rivers State Command after previously being designated to the FCT Command and later Delta State.”

Additionally, CP Mustapha Bala from Katsina State has been appointed to the Rivers State Command, while Gyogon Grimah, formerly of Nasarawa State, has been redeployed to Kaduna State Command.
