From rice to vegetables, meat to cooking oil, the prices of essential foodstuffs have been rising steadily throughout the year, making it difficult for many families to keep up with the growing cost of living. For instance, a 50kg bag of rice, which cost around ₦55,000 last year, now sells for between ₦90,000 and ₦100,000 in many markets. Similarly, the price of palm oil has more than doubled, and the cost of chicken has surged to over ₦5,500 per kilogram.

For many Nigerians, the festive season is a time for family gatherings and shared meals, making the affordability of food a key concern. As the holiday approaches, the question on many minds is whether there will be any relief from the high prices that have plagued the country throughout the year.

  • 50kg Bag of Vitally Long Grain Rice – ₦95,000
  • 50kg Bags of Optimum and Mafa Rice (Wholesale Price) – ₦92,000
  • 25kg Bag of Rice – ₦47,500

Price of Beans:

  • 50kg Bag of Sweet Pure Butter Beans – ₦150,000
  • 50kg Bag of Brown Beans from Maiduguri – ₦90,000
  • Rubber of Brown Beans – ₦7,500
  • Peeled Dried Honey Beans/Beans Flour – ₦15,000
  • 50kg Bag of Honey Beans (Oloyin) – ₦110,000
  • Clean Handpicked Oloyin Beans (Honey Beans) – ₦175,000
  • 50kg Bag of Chad Sweet Brown Beans – ₦90,000
  • 50kg Bag of Soybeans (Very Dried) – ₦115,000

Price of Garri:

  • One Paint of Garri – ₦3,500
  • 50kg Bag of Garri – ₦40,000
  • Garri (Garri Ijebu) – ₦55,000
  • 100kg Bag of Garri – ₦80,000

Tomatoes:

  • Small Basket of Tomatoes – ₦5,000
