Prince William ‘lunged and grabbed Harry’s shirt’ in forgotten confrontation detailed in Spare

Prince William once “lunged” at Prince Harry and “grabbed his shirt” during one of their arguments after the Duke officially stepped down from royal life.
The loss of William and Harry’s brotherly bond is detailed extensively in Harry’s autobiography Spare, with one fight at Kensington Palace reportedly leaving the younger brother with visible injuries after William allegedly pushed him onto the ground and a dog bowl broke against him.
Another altercation saw William invoke the memory of their late mother Princess Diana, which Harry claims saw the whole room go silent.
After Prince Philip’s funeral in April 2021, Harry said his brother was “really steaming” as they argued about allegations of bullying brought against Harry’s wife Meghan Markle.
Harry recalls in Spare: “He lunged, grabbed my shirt. ‘Listen to me, Harold’, he said.

“‘Harold, you must listen to me! I just want you to be happy, Harold. I swear I swear on Mummy’s life’…. He stopped. I stopped. Pa stopped. He’d gone there.”
Despite once seeming to be close, Harry and William are now barely on speaking terms, with the Sussexes living a new life in California with their two children.
A royal expert has claimed there “almost needs to be an intervention” as opportunities where the princes might bump into each other are now few and far between.
Royal expert Nick Bullen said: “I’m sure everybody managed those diaries to make sure there was no crossover whatsoever. Harry hasn’t even been going to old friends’ weddings.
“Those moments where they might bump into each other aren’t happening, let alone the choreographed moments.”
He added: “I think there is so much water under the bridge between William and Harry that how they intend to find that common ground is beyond most royal commentators.
“I think there needs to be a brokerage from another person. There almost needs to be an intervention. It requires both parties to be willing to come to the table.”
Royal author Robert Jobson has said that the one person behind the scenes who is doing the best job of bringing them togethernis William’s wife, Princess Kate.
He said: “I’m not sure how much dialogue there is with William and Harry, at the moment, I think the only person that is helping the situation is Catherine, who is doing a brilliant job.”
