Detectives from the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a 70-year-old man, Afolabi Michael, for allegedly defiling a 11-year-old girl. The suspect was arrested on September 27, 2024, following a complaint lodged by the girl’s mother. The suspect, in his confessional statement to the police, claimed that he has been suffering from weak erection for many years now.

Lagos State Police Spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident, said on September 27, 2024, around noon, a case of defilement was transferred from Iju Division to Gender Unit of Lagos State Police Command for discreet investigation.

Hundeyin, a Superintendent of Police (SP), stated that the case was reported by the complainant on behalf of her daughter.

He said the complainant alleged that sometimes in July 2024 when school was on vacation and when the school resumed, the survivor was defiled by the suspect.

“She stated further that the suspect had sexual intercourse with the survivor multiple times. The suspect was cautioned in English Language where he confessed that he romanced the survivor, though he denied having sexual intercourse with her claiming that he has been suffering from weak erection for many years now.

“However, the suspect has been arraigned in court for defilement on October 10, 2024 and has been remanded” he said.

Hundeyin said another case of defilement was reported on September 24, at the Gender Unit of the Command against one Philip Agaku.
