Nigerians on social media have started reacting differently to the lifting of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, from the Dangote Refinery by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL).
Tribune Online reports that the lifting of petrol from the 650,000 barrels-per-day refinery commenced on Sunday, 15 September 2024.

No fewer than 100 trucks from the NNPCL arrived at the refinery, located in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State, to lift the first batch of the PMS.
The development has, however, continued to spark various opinions across social media platforms.
Reacting to the development on X (formerly Twitter), Nigerian billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola, described the lifting of petrol from the Dangote Refinery as a relief for the people of Nigeria.
According to him, the Dangote Refinery will put an end to the incessant petrol queues in Nigeria.
He wrote, “Kudos to President Tinubu for making this a reality! Fuel queues are now a thing of the past as Dangote Refinery starts loading PMS today Sunday 15 September 2024… F.Ote ??.”
Also reacting to the news on X, user @seemarkmark, who questioned how much the petrol would be sold for, tweeted, “At what price are you selling to NNPCLT. At what price their Petrol stations going to be selling. Apparently they can’t sell at the of their imported Petrol. Or is that the case here?”
@Splendsta commented, “Fuel queues isn’t our problem, the price is what matters. What’s the use of no queue n its selling above 1000? Who will buy.”
Reacting to the news on Facebook, Otunba Richard wrote, “Both NNPC and Dangote will explain to us why crude got and refined locally will still be sold at the same price as the imported one. I begin to wonder about the benefits of the crude and the refinery. NNPC and Dangote remain the sole beneficiary. So why celebrating?”

Another Facebook user, Adole Ekedegwa, who believes that the commencement of lifting PMS from the Dangote Refinery will not reduce the price of petrol, wrote, “If anyone think Dangote will help bring down the price of PMS in Nigeria, the person should first refer to the prices of cement and sugar.”▶For More READ THE FULL STORY▶▶
