The projection is based on the expectation that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) may face challenges in meeting foreign exchange (FX) demands in the coming months, coupled with anticipated FX volatility.
The report suggests that exchange rate fluctuations will likely continue at a modest pace in 2025, driven by the CBN’s limited capacity to sustain market demand. This challenge is exacerbated by the fact that recent foreign exchange reserves growth has largely been supported by inflows from inorganic sources, which come with stringent usage conditions.
The report’s projection contrasts with the N1,500 per dollar benchmark proposed in Nigeria’s 2025 budget.
