The party criticized the President’s previous addresses, calling them filled with empty rhetoric and false promises, without offering actionable steps to address the nation’s difficulties.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP challenged President Tinubu to take tangible actions to tackle insecurity, revitalize the economy, create jobs, ensure credible elections, and improve the living conditions of Nigerians. The party accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of being indifferent to the suffering of Nigerians while enjoying lavish lifestyles funded by public resources.

The PDP emphasized that the President’s address should address critical issues such as corruption, mismanagement of funds, and the wasteful spending of public money by APC leaders. Furthermore, the PDP urged President Tinubu to address the alleged state-backed killings, including the 2020 #EndSARS incident, and to take responsibility for the government’s failures in these matters. The party also expressed concern over the economic hardship Nigerians have endured under the current administration, noting the increase in suicides and desperate migration attempts as signs of the despair caused by the APC’s policies.

Despite the criticisms, the PDP urged Nigerians not to lose hope, urging them to remain law-abiding and optimistic about the potential for change in 2025. The opposition party reaffirmed its commitment to restoring Nigeria to a path of stability and prosperity, hoping to rectify the country’s challenges under the APC’s rule since 2015.A NEW YEAR-WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!
