This declaration came in a statement released by the military high command on Wednesday, addressing Turji’s ultimatum and outlining ongoing security operations aimed at neutralizing terrorist threats in the region.
Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, stated, “From January to December 31, 2024, we have eliminated over 1,000 terrorist leaders and their replacements during our operations. Bello Turji will meet the same fate. Indeed, he is nothing more than a dead man walking. It is beneath us to engage in verbal exchanges with a terrorist. History shows that many terrorists before him made similar boasts but were ultimately neutralized. He will not be an exception.”
He continued, “We have buried countless terrorists on the battlefield because that is their inevitable end. Bello Turji and those like him are no different—they are merely awaiting their turn.”
Addressing skepticism surrounding the military’s recent Christmas Day operation, which targeted the Lakurawas terrorist enclave and resulted in the destruction of their logistics and ammunition stores, Major General Buba emphasized, “The first casualty of war is always the truth. It’s expected that terrorists and their collaborators will spread misinformation to distort our achievements. We urge Nigerians not to fall for their propaganda.”
He further appealed to the public, stating, “This is a Nigerian war for Nigerians. We will not relent in our efforts to secure our nation. The terrorists are discontented because we have dismantled their operations and destroyed their resources.
