Russia has tentatively agreed to construct a fuel pipeline in the Republic of Congo. According to a government decree, a partnership will be formed for the construction of the pipeline, with Russia having 90% ownership in the entity.

A concession agreement will specify the specifics, including technical and economic details. Russia has committed to providing funding, equipment, and personnel for the construction of the pipeline in the Republic of Congo, as well as fuel if necessary. In exchange, the Republic of Congo is anticipated to offer various tax relief measures.

This initiative is part of Russia’s effort to bolster its relationship with African countries, especially after its ties with Western countries slacked due to the conflict it has with Ukraine that began in February 2022.
