In a statement released on Saturday, SPEDIN’s Director General, Comrade Idrith Ibrahim Unguwar Gini, described the incident as “barbaric and inhumane,” emphasizing that it was an attack not just on the victims but on the principles of peace, unity, and safety that Nigeria upholds.
“The loss of lives in such a brutal and senseless manner cannot be tolerated, and it calls for urgent and decisive action,” the statement read.
SPEDIN demanded a thorough and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack, stressing the need for the swift identification, arrest, and prosecution of those responsible.
The organization also called on the Federal Government to take concrete steps to prevent similar acts of mob violence in the future, highlighting the need to prioritize the safety of all Nigerians, regardless of their profession, ethnicity, or origin.
“We urge the Federal Government to ensure that this tragic event does not go unpunished and that all necessary actions are taken to curb mob violence in our society,” SPEDIN stated.
