The Last Leg’s Adam Hills explains unusual reason he rejected King Charles invitation

Adam Hills took part in the first-ever Physical Disability Rugby League World Cup last year and has created a documentary following his journey.
He joined Ben Shephard and Ranvir Singh on Good Morning Britain to explain why following his dream meant rejecting King Charles.
Ranvir commented: “Tell us why it matters so much to you.”
“Well, I started, I got involved with the Warrington Wolves Disability League in 2017,” Adam explained.
“So I’ve been doing this for six years now so it’s kind of taken over my life to the point where I play for he Warrington team and we train every Monday, I was invited to Prince Charles’ 70th birthday party at Buckingham Palace.
“But I turned it down because we had training!”
Ben gasped: “No!” as Ranvir asked: “Because you had training on the Monday?”
“You blew out the future King, as was then the Prince, because you were at training?” Ben repeated.
Ranvir continued: “Because he was in Warrington. I love the North, I’m from the North but you turned down Buckingham Palace for Warrington?”
Adam laughed: “Absolutely!”
Elsewhere in the interview, Adam spoke about why being involved with the league was so important to him.
“When everyone’s got a disability, no one’s got a disability,” he shared.
“You’re missing an arm, you’re missing a leg and you’ve got cerebral palsy so you’re going to have a weakness, you’re going to have a weakness and you’re going to have a weakness, which is the same on any sporting pitch.”
Ben asked: “Have you found because I started playing rugby a little when I started working in telly and quickly realised there’s reason TV presenters tend not to.
“The opposition don’t half enjoy taking out somebody on telly. Have you found that Adam? They relish taking you out.”
Adam laughed: “More than that, an Australian on telly. First game we played was against Leeds and one of their big guys Tommy came over on the wing where I was, slammed me on the ground and in the tackle, in my ear, whispered ‘I enjoyed that.’”
