Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, discussed the actions of the Igbo people following the declaration that the Nigerian Civil War was over in a video that was uploaded by Sahara TV. He disclosed that, in keeping with the nature of the Igbo people, when the civil war was formally declared over, Igbos relocated not just to Lagos but also to the North, West, and East of Nigeria.

Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu emphasised that Igbos have made substantial investments in these areas. He underscored the significance of both foreign and internal investments for any economy, highlighting that internal investment is particularly crucial worldwide. He argued that when people invest internally within a country, it contributes significantly to the nation’s economic development.

According to him, “Igbos lived in Lagos without any problem in peace and in love, and that was a proper and fitting action to their character of coming to help in developing Lagos. In our normal character, the moment it was announced that the battle was over (the civil war was over), Igbos went round the whole place again. Igbos moved to the north, moved to the west, moved to the east, and invested massively. And for the avoidance of doubt, every economy requires two investments: foreign investment and internal investment. Let me tell you, all over the world, internal investment is more important than foreign investment. When a foreigner invests in a country, he must repatriate it to his country. ”
