This decision was disclosed by Senator Kenneth Eze, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Information and National Orientation, during the ministry’s budget defense session on Tuesday. The session, which was recorded in a viral video on X (formerly Twitter), also saw the committee summoning the Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris, for further discussions.

“The budget is nothing to write home about. It is more like a national embarrassment to give the ministry what is being budgeted for,” Eze stated.
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan supported the decision to step down the budget, emphasizing that the funding outlined in the proposal falls short of what is required for the ministry to function effectively.
“I second the stepping down of the 2025 budget for the Ministry of Information and National Orientation because the funding as presented is inadequate. We also summon the Minister of Information for further review,” she remarked.
