The Only African and European Country Without a Single Mosque Despite Having Muslims

By the percentage of the total population in a region considering themselves Muslim, 91% in the Middle East-North Africa (MENA), 89% in Central Asia, 40% in Southeast Asia, 31% in South Asia, 30% in Sub-Saharan Africa, 25% in Asia, 1.4% in Oceania, 6% in Europe, and 1% in the Americas.

Without that legal status, a religion is deemed unlawful by the state, deeming it ineligible for government tax subsidies, while, at the same time, forbidding public houses of worship. The new law, however, doubled the threshold from 25,000 to 50,000 signatures.

Given Muslims represent only 0.4 percent of the population, Slovakia’s anti-Islam law represents a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist, but Slovak politicians haven’t tried to conceal their motive behind this bill. In fact, they have publicly stated it’s intended to outlaw all aspects of Muslim life in the country forever.

Only in Sao Tome and Principe can you find a single mosque on the continent of Africa. Most inhibitors are devout Christians who consistently identify as Roman Catholic. However, there is a far smaller number of Muslims in the country than Christian believers. That’s why there aren’t any mosques there.
